In the Pretoria High Court on 8th February 2018 at 11h30 in Court 6F the case against Dr DS Grieve was heard.
Grieve was not in court. The matter revolved around the principle of whether the HPCSA has the jurisdiction to investigate this medical miscreant on a matter which is non-medical of nature. The advocate for the Health Professionals Council of South Africa argued that it was because his antics bring the entire medical profession into disrepute; he has swindled patients who came to him for medical treatment in his doctor's rooms and therefore it was him who allowed the two areas of business and medicine to merge and become a grey area. He swindled some R22m from his patients and others and was also charged in a police station due to this financial misconduct - additionally he was also previously arrested and charged on a count of sexual assault against a waitress who worked at a restaurant in Pretoria he once owned "Cynthias" as well. Therefore Dr DS Grieve as a professional becomes embroiled in a messy and unbecoming situation (s) bringing the whole profession into disrepute. His council argued that he had to approach the court even though the HPCSA's investigation has not been concluded otherwise the council is investigating a matter which the court may find outside the council's jurisdiction.
The judge summed it up by saying "The patients went to him for their health not their wealth".

He held her isolated on a deserted property with no communications expect his own incoming calls whilst his wife Sanet took control of her ATM card - and syphoned every pension paid penny out before it was even cold.....you be the judge - we have asked the SAPS to investigate.
